The Vendemmia Foundation is dedicated to preserving Italian culture; advancing the understanding of Italian heritage and the art of winemaking; fostering pride in community; and supporting the education of young people in the South Philadelphia area.

Corporate sponsors as well as the people of South Philadelphia and suburbs who attend the event make the educational scholarships possible through their generosity and support of the Vendemmia Festival.

2011 Vendemmia Foundation Scholarship Program: Up to ten (10), $2,000.00 scholarships for eligible grade school students and up to ten (10), $4,000.00 scholarships for eligible high school seniors. These scholarships are awarded over a four-year period and based on academic merit.

Note: Our scholarship program takes direction from (though not affiliated with) other, similar private federations such as Order Sons of Italy and the National Italian American Foundation.

Eligibility Requirements for Students Entering High School:

  • Students must reside in one of the four South Philadelphia Zip Codes (19145, 46, 47 & 48) and enrolled to enter a tuition-paid high school in Fall 2011.
  • No application necessary; principals from he grade schools where eligible candidates are graduating will select student scholarship winner/s based upon academic excellence and participation in extracurricular activities, and submit names to the Vendemmia Foundation & Board.
  • A maximum of ten, $2,000 awards payable over four years is offered to students who maintain good academic standing throughout high school. Scholarship winners must keep a 3.2 GPA in order to continue to receive an annual award contribution.

Eligibility Requirements for Students Entering College:

  • Students must reside in one of the four South Philadelphia Zip Codes (19145, 46, 47 & 48) and enrolled to enter a tuition-paid high school in Fall 2011.
  • A maximum of ten scholarships of $4,000 per scholarship winner, payable over four years, will be awarded to high school seniors who are advancing to accredited four-year colleges beginning Fall 2011. A student must keep a 3.2 GPA in order to receive a scholarship award. THESE SCHOLARSHIPS MUST BE APPLIED FOR DIRECTLY BY STUDENT CANDIDATES.
